For each Common Core Curriculum Unit, please include the below documents:

1) Unit Map –is a comprehensive document that includes all significant information relating to the unit being covered. It should include:
  • a. The CCLS for that Unit
  • b. The Big Idea
  • c. Essential Questions
  • d. Vocabulary or Key Terms
  • e. Content that will be covered
  • f. Skills needed
  • g. Lesson Overview for the skills: should include the textbook page(s) and/or workbook page(s) from the Pearson Textbook used to teach each skill. The vocabulary words being introduced should also be written in the lesson overview.
  • h. Types of Formative and Summative Assessments that will be used throughout the unit.
  • i. All other related resources, activities, websites, worksheets, tutorials, etc.

2) Pre-assessment - should be multiple choice questions only. Number of questions included on the pre-assessment is teacher-discretion.

3) Tasks – each standard (Arc) must have a performance task which is group work and should be differentiated. The tasks should be based on a real-world problem. They should be given after teaching the skills, concepts, and processes for that standard. The tasks should be holistically graded on the rubric. These tasks will be put in the students’ portfolios. Tasks should be uniform across the grade.

4) Assessments – after reviewing the tasks and clarifying misconceptions, students should then be given an assessment for each standard (Arc). The assessment is individual work and also can be differentiated. Assessments should be holistically graded on the rubric. These assessments will also be put in the students’ portfolios and should be uniform across the grade.

5) Final Performance Task – this is an individual assessment given at the end of the unit that encompasses all of the skills and concepts taught. You should think of a real-world situation where you can derive questions to test each individual skill or concept. This should also be holistically graded on the rubric and must be put in the students’ portfolios. Please note that this final performance task cannot be differentiated.

6) Summative Assessment- this is also given after the entire unit has been taught and should replicate the state exam. Part 1 should include multiple choice questions along with any computational . Part 2 should be short-responses and extended responses. This is not graded on the rubric and also cannot be differentiated. Again, this must also be put in the students’ portfolios.

7) Post-Assessment – this should mirror the pre-assessment. Change the values in the questions.

8) All other quizzes, tests, and homework assignments are teacher-discretion and do not have to be uniform across the grade.
